FreeDV .debs

Run FreeDV on a Linux distribution using the .deb package format.

This is a repository for freedv .deb packages, and fdmdv2 source code.

Packages are signed with the key freedv-apt-key that can be used as described for Secure Apt:

wget -O - http://files.freedv.org/debian/freedv-apt-key | sudo apt-key add -

You will be able to `apt-get install freedv` or `aptitude install freedv` or `apt-get source freedv` once you add to your /etc/apt/sources.list file the following lines:

For Debian 6.0 Squeeze:

deb http://files.freedv.org/debian/ oldstable main
deb-src http://files.freedv.org/debian/ oldstable main

For Debian 7.0 Wheezy:

deb http://files.freedv.org/debian/ stable main
deb-src http://files.freedv.org/debian/ stable main

For Ubuntu LTS 12.04 Precise Pangolin:

deb http://files.freedv.org/debian/ precise main
deb-src http://files.freedv.org/debian/ precise main

For Ubuntu LTS 13.04 Raring Ringtail:

deb http://files.freedv.org/debian/ raring main
deb-src http://files.freedv.org/debian/ raring main

Debian Experimental packages (unstable/testing):

FreeDV users are encouraged to pick a stable, supported distribution above and use the packages from freedv.org

That said, fdmdv2 and freedv are Free Software and now part of Debian. See status in Debian's package tracking system

deb http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/ experimental main
deb-src http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/ experimental main

Non U.S. users can place their own two-letter country code in place of the "us" to use a closer mirror.

The plan is to use experimental for pre 1.0 versions. Once a stable, feature-complete, robust and supportable release of FreeDV and fdmdv2 is made, then that version will be allowed to transition to the next release of Debian.
